at the ninth spurred John McLaren to his best competitive round at Kingarth
on Saturday when he finished top scorer in the extra medal. The 14-handicapper
covered his final 10 holes in one over par to finished with net 62,
one shot clear of his nearest challenger in the second class. John Bunyan
(21) was runner-up on 63 with Bobby Speirs (13) third on 65. David
Bryden (9) led the first class section on net 66, two ahead of George
Cuthbertson (11) with Jim McKirdy (11) next on 69.
THE Texas
scramble mixed competition for the R. A. Pride Shield takes place tonight
(Friday). Participants should be at the clubhouse for 6.30pm.
Kingarth
golfers are back in competitive action again tomorrow in the August Medal
which is played in conjunction with the William Barclay Trophy competition
over nine holes for those aged over 60.
