KINGARTH
golfers made the most of benign conditions last Saturday as the April
stableford competition brought an improvement in scoring which for the
first time in recent weeks kept the competition scratch score at 64.
There was
a welcome return to form for George Cuthbertson who produced his best
golf of the season to win first prize with 43 points. Birdies at the
first and ninth helped the 10-handicapper to the turn in 34 and his
back nine of 37 left him with an excellent gross score of 71.
The best
golf of the day was produced by second-placed Gordon Pettigrew (7) on
41 points after finishing on two-over-par 70 with birdies at the first,
tenth, sixteenth and seventeenth.
Other leading
scorers were David Bryden (9) on 39, Arthur Hunter (5) on 37 with Duncan
speirs (6), Alistair McFarlane (12), and James McAlister (19) all on
36.
The competitive
programme continues tomorrow (Saturday) with the May medal. The usual
ballot takes place at the clubhouse at 8.30am, although members can
make their own arrangements to play later in the day.
