JOHN BUNYAN led his team to a 3½-½ success in the captain versus vice-captain annual team match last Saturday at Kingarth. The winners against Captain Ian McDougall’s line-up were Bunyan, partnered by Bobby Speirs, Gordon Little with Bobby Gordon, and James McAlister who played in a singles game. David Bryden and George Cuthbertson finished all square against David Cameron and John Kernaghan.

A busy weekend for Bute club golfers begins tonight (Friday) with a Texas scramble mixed competition for the Hume Ferguson Cup. Participants should be at the clubhouse at 6.30pm.

The July medal is played tomorrow with the usual 8.30am ballot while 10 of the club’s senior members take part in the Bute/Rothesay select versus Douglas Park GC match on Monday at Rothesay.
