THERE was
double delight for Gordon Pettigrew at Kingarth's tricky par three third
hole on Saturday as he birdied it twice on his way to pole position
for tomorrow's club championship quarter-finals.
The former
title holder scored level par 68 for a leading 139 aggregate after the
36-hole stroke-play qualifying event. Defending champion Donald Standaloft
finished one shot behind after two 70s, with David Cameron (72, 73)
next on 145.
Other qualifiers
are: David Bryden 149 (77, 72), George Cuthbertson 154 (78, 76), John
Kernaghan 162 (81, 81), Bobby Speirs 163 (79, 84), Goron Little 164
(81, 83).
Quarter-finals
draw: Pettigrew v. Little, Bryden v. Cuthbertson, Cameron v. Kernaghan,
and Standaloft v. Speirs.

for the "wee championship" and Cuthbertson Cup are: Graham Leonard (22)

Cup has been won by Elizabeth Speirs, John Bunyan and John Kernaghan.
The trio led the Texas scramble mixed competition over nine holes last
Friday with net 32 playing off three to win by one stroke from Betty
Wilson, David Cameron and George Cuthbertson (2). Marion MacDonald,
Jean Cuthbertson and Ian McDougall (3) were third on 34.
AN extra
medal will take place as usual tomorrow for those not competing in the
championship and Cuthbertson Cup quarter finals with a ballot at 8.30am.
