LEONARD Ferguson
enjoyed double success last Saturday at Kingarth when he won the William
Barclay Cup for the over-60s ... then added a victory in the second
class of the August medal.
The 17-handicapper
took the trophy, which is played over the outward half, for the third
successive year when he finished on net 31.5 to edge David Bryden (9)
into second place thanks to a better last six holes. He earned the medal
victory with net 62. It wasn't Bryden's day as he was also beaten by
a better inward half for the first class prize which went to George
Cuthbertson (11) after both finished on net 63. The competition scratch
score was 63.
Kingarth
members are back on the trophy trail tomorrow when they compete for
the James Lamont Quaich over 18 holes with the usual 8.30am ballot at
the clubhouse.
