KINGARTH'S
Winter League has received a major cash injection through a sponsorship
deal that will boost prizes. Stephen Thomas Financial Services has
stepped in to support the tournament which is expected to attract a
big entry for the coming months. League organiser Jimmy Burnside paid
tribute to the independent financial adviser for the help as he said:
"We are greatly indebted to Stephen Thomas for the initiative which
will increase our prize fund and make for a highly competitive winter."
The first
round of the league, with the best eight stableford returns over the
next six months counting, took place last Saturday with a burst of
low scoring. David Bryden (9) led the way with 42 points followed by
Bobby Gordon (22) on 41, Jim McKirdy (10) 40 with Leonard Ferguson (18)
and Gordon Little (16) both on 38. The competition continues tomorrow
(Saturday) with the usual ballot at the clubhouse at 8.30pm when all
members will be welcome to take part.
