DAVID
CAMERON took route 66 to victory last Saturday when he produced his
best score of the year in the latest round of the Winter League. Four
birdies in a brilliant outward nine of 32 set the six-handicapper on
the road to a two-under-par gross 66 and a winning total of 44 stableford
points. He finished one clear of a rejuvenated Bobby Gordon -- at 80
years young -- who again had to settle for runner-up spot on 43 points
playing off 21. Other leading scorers were David Bryden (8) 42, Ian
McDougall (17) 41 with Kenneth McDougall (15), Cammy Middleton (10),
and Gordon Little (16), all on 40.
The third
round of the league, sponsored by Stephen Thomas Financial Services, takes
place tomorrow (Saturday) with the usual ballot at the clubhouse at
8.30am.
THE postponed
mixed competitions for the R. A. Pride Shield and the Hume Ferguson
Cup take place on Sunday week (October 28) with an 11.00am tee-off.
Each event will be played over nine holes.
