BOBBY
SPEIRS, who has had to settle for second place twice in as many weeks,
finally made it to the top spot last Saturday as he splashed his way
to victory in the Captain's Day competition at Kingarth. Persistent
rain made scoring difficult and the 13-handicapper did well to amass
38 stableford points to finish three points clear of his nearest challenger.
Duncan Speirs (6) edged into runner-up place on a better inward half
after finishing on 35 points along with Gordon Little (15). John Kernaghan
(13) was fourth, one point further adrift.
The day
was generously hosted by club captain Ian McDougall who presented the
prizes to the soggy victors at St Blane's Hotel.
Kingarth
golfers will be in trophy action tomorrow (Saturday) when they compete
in a medal round for the James Lamont Quaich while the postponed mixed
competition for the R. A. Pride Shield will take place next Friday (August
31) with a 6.30pm start at the clubhouse.
The
committee of management meet tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm in St Blane's
Hotel.
