gave Jim McKirdy victory in the annual Captain's Day competition at
Kingarth on Saturday. The 12-handicapper finished one shot clear of
second-placed Gordon Pettigrew (7) who scored 63, with David Bryden
(9) and John McLaren (14) joint third on 64.
Club captain
Ian McDougall later played host to the competitors at St Blane's Hotel
where he presented the various awards. Vice-captain John Bunyan thanked
the captain for his generosity. The competition scratch score was 63.

Pride Shield has been won by Marion McDonald and George Cuthbertson
in the recent mixed competition over nine holes.
JOHN STEWART
goes into the third round of the Sir Harry Hope Cup tomorrow as red-hot
favourite to take the trophy. Stewart, playing off 27, posted the lowest
score of the season with a second-round net 56 which will be hard to
beat. The usual ballot will be held at the clubhouse at 8.30am
