RESULTS

THE bar keeps rising in the Winter League at Kingarth where Graham Connor was the latest player to hit the heights. The 12-handicapper produced his best score of the year on Saturday with a two-over-par 70 for a winning 46 points -- the top total of the tournament so far. Birdies at the second, fifth and seventh holes helped Connor to a victory which left him two points clear of his nearest challengers. There were also excellent performances from Cammy Middleton (10), who matched the winner's gross 70, James McAlister (20) and Leonard Ferguson (18), all on 44 points. Others who broke the 40 barrier were Ian McDougall (16) 42, and Jim McKirdy (10) 41. League organiser Jimmy Burnside spent the morning sharpening his guillotine for a series of handicap cuts!

KINGARTH members face a busy weekend as the Winter League, sponsored by Stephen Thomas Financial Services, continues tomorrow (Saturday) with the usual ballot at 8.30am. The postponed mixed competitions for the R. A. Pride Shield and the Hume Ferguson Cup follow on Sunday with an 11.00am tee-off. Each trophy event will be played over nine holes.

THE date of the club's annual dinner and presentation of prizes will now take place on Saturday, December 1 at St Blane's Hotel, Kilchattan Bay after a change of date from that shown on the fixture card. Those intending to be there are urged to contact hon. secretary Frazer Robinson, 32 Marine Place, Rothesay (tel: 502158), as soon as possible.
